Rio D. Smith grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Rio worked in finance before pursuing his legal education at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While at the University of Oklahoma, much of Rio’s legal studies focused on energy, property use, and oil and gas law, where he also worked for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
Before joining Cowboy State Title, Rio was in-house counsel for a Wyoming title company, where he worked on commercial real estate transactions and handled title issues and acquisitions for large energy projects throughout Wyoming. Rio also works as a practicing attorney for WSH Law, P.C. and primarily practices in the area of title review and preparation, curative title matters, real estate transactions, wind energy leasing, and probate proceedings. Rio also advises clients on business and estate planning matters.
In his free time, Rio enjoys golfing, cooking, and taking advantage of all the great outdoor recreation Wyoming has to offer.
